Check to Protect’ during Vehicle Safety Recalls Week

Does your car, truck or SUV have any open safety recalls? Not sure? The National Safety Council is urging all drivers to find out during Vehicle Safety Recalls Week, set for March 4-10.

Nearly 50 million vehicles on the road today have unrepaired safety recalls. Many of those recalls involve defective parts that can put the lives of drivers, their passengers and others on the road at risk.

Led by NSC, the Check to Protect campaign encourages all drivers to visit CheckToProtect.org to search the recall status of their vehicle and, if necessary, schedule a free repair as soon as possible. Drivers are encouraged to check for recalls every time the vehicle is serviced or every three months.

“Safety on the road is a priority for everyone and, with millions of recalled vehicles being used every day, it’s important for drivers to make sure the vehicle they are driving is safe,” said Lonny Haschel, senior program manager with the Mobility Safety Impact Program at NSC. “All roadway users are safer when vehicle safety recalls are repaired.”

Vehicle Safety Recalls Week is an initiative of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
